ISHLT2024 (Symposium 20): I'll Tell You What I Want, What I Really Really Want - Advice for Early Career Professionals

This session, designed by the Early Career and Trainees Committee, will provide an overview of advice for early career professionals as they start their careers, take on leadership roles (locally or within the society), become teachers/mentors, and navigate work-life balance including parenthood, while avoiding burnout. This session also will be of great value for leaders and those in more advanced stages of their careers. A panel discussion with all speakers including audience Q&A, led by the session moderators, will conclude this session.

A Joint Venture for Defeating Infectious Threats Post-Transplantation: Pathologists and Microbiologists Together

Heart and lung transplant recipients are highly susceptible to conventional and opportunistic infections, which represent a major cause of morbidity, graft dysfunction and mortality. This session will examine the risk factors relevant to heart and lung transplant recipients, and the syndromes associated with them, such as respiratory failure, sepsis, and CNS infection.

Chopin’s Etude in CMV Major

CMV remains a significant challenge in solid organ transplant recipients, with impact on allograft function and toxicities related to treatment. This session will allow for discussion of new approaches to prevention, prophylaxis, treatment, and patient risk stratification.
