Second ISHLT Research Grant Cycle Now Open
ISHLT is now accepting applications for three Research Grants covering topics related to mechanical circulatory support and immunomodulation in cardiothoracic transplantation. These grants will be awarded at the ISHLT2024 Annual Meeting in Prague in April 2024, and applications will be accepted until 17 January, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EST / 18 January, 2024 at 03:59 UTC.
Full details about grant eligibility and application criteria are available on the ISHLT website, or you can read on for more details.
ISHLT Extracorporeal Photopheresis Immunomodulation in Cardiothoracic Transplantation Challenge Grant
Grant Amount: Up to $90,000 USD for one year
Supported by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals
This research grant aims to advance the use of extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) immunomodulation to improve patient survival and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and improve or stabilize organ function in thoracic transplant patients.
The one-year grant will focus on studies involving the fully integrated and validated ECP system, and aims to support projects that are expected to have an impact on clinical practice of thoracic transplant patients.
As an ISHLT challenge grant, finalists for this grant must attend the ISHLT2024 Annual Meeting in Prague to present their research proposal to a panel of judges. For more information on the meeting, visit ishlt.org/ishlt2024.
ISHLT/ICCAC VAD Coordinator Career Development Grant
Grant Amount: Up to $20,000 USD for one year
Presented jointly by ISHLT and the International Consortium of Circulatory Assist Clinicians (ICCAC), this grant is designed to enhance the professional growth and development of VAD coordinators to ensure that the mechanical circulatory support (MCS) community has the capacity to provide this advanced therapy and improve patient outcomes.
This one-year grant supports research with the goal of enhancing patient/caregiver decision making and improving the VAD experience, patient survival, and patient and caregiver quality of life.
ISHLT/O.H. Frazier Grant in MCS Translational Research
Grant Amount: Up to $65,000 USD for one year
This one-year grant supports rising stars in the field of mechanical circulatory support (MCS) at a critical time in their career. The recipient will have already established a track record in the field of MCS, and will aim to further develop their career in this area.
The Frazier Grant is given to proposals for research utilizing MCS that could result in an increased understanding of the biologic effects, use as sole combined therapy, insights into patient/MCS management, innovative use/application, or improved outcomes for the treatment of heart failure.
