The Governance Committee includes two components: a Governance Operating Committee and a Governance Nominating Committee. 

 

Policies

  • Chaired by the Immediate Past President.
  • The President and President-Elect serve as ex officio members.
  • Four additional Board members who have a demonstrated understanding of volunteer organization governance issues, appointed by the Executive Committee for a 1-year renewable term.
  • Additional at-large members appointed by the Executive Committee as needed to provide specific expertise.

No member of the Governance Committee may simultaneously serve in a Board position for any other professional societies with overlapping membership and interest areas with ISHLT.

  • Comprised of the Operating Committee plus 4 additional members.
  • The 4 additional members, preferably past officers or directors, engage solely in the nominations and election process and are appointed by the Executive Committee for a 1-year term, renewable twice.

  • Identification of candidates possessing desired attributes (as defined by the BoD) to ensure Board access to important perspectives
