A new ISHLT Document, 2024 ISHLT/TTS-ID Measles Guidance Document for the Transplant Community is now available to read online on the ISHLT website or on ISHLTconnect! Development of this document was led by Stephanie Pouch and John Baddley of the ISHLT Infectious Diseases Professional Community and developed in collaboration with the Transplant Infectious Diseases Section of The Transplantation Society (TTS-ID).

Measles remains an important and highly contagious disease and there are multiple outbreaks occurring in the world. Since live attenuated vaccines, such as measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), are contraindicated in immunocompromised patients, and with no approved antiviral therapies for measles, community exposures in solid organ transplant patients can lead to life-threatening infection. This document aims to provide guidance to all of the transplant community on combating this disease.

Visit the Standards & Guidelines page for details and to read or download the document.
