As the ISHLT community looks forward to the ISHLT2023 Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions, ISHLT announces the Chairs for the 2024 and 2025 Annual Meetings of the Society. 


ISHLT 44th ANNUAL MEETING & SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS

April 10 – 13, 2024

Prague Congress Centre, Prague, Czech Republic

Headshot of Goran DellgrenIn 2024, the ISHLT Annual Meeting Program Planning Committee will be chaired by Göran Dellgren, MD, PhD, Director Heart and Lung Transplantation, and Mechanical Circulatory Support at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden. Dr. Dellgren has been an ISHLT member since 2008, and has served in a variety of volunteer roles for the Society, including serving on the Board of Directors beginning in 2018. 

Dr. Dellgren received his medical degree from the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, in 1989. He became Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Karolinska Institute in 1997 after which he did a fellowship in adult cardiac surgery at The Toronto General Hospital 1998-1999, followed by another fellowship 1999-2000 at The Hospital for Sick Children, Univ of Toronto, Canada. Dr Dellgren defended his PhD thesis in 2002 at the Karolinska Institute. Dr. Dellgren’s clinical and research interests include cell transplantation, aortic valve surgery, mechanical circulatory support and heart and lung transplantation.

Dr. Dellgren’s term will begin on 1 May, 2023.

Headshot of Kiran KhushIn 2025, the ISHLT Annual Meeting Program Planning Committee will be chaired by Kiran Kaur Khush, MD, MAS, Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Stanford University Medical Center in Stanford, CA, USA. Dr. Khush is an active member of the ISHLT who is currently serving on the Board of Directors, and who has served in a variety of volunteer roles in the past, including as Associate Director of the Thoracic Transplant Registry.

After growing up in the Philippines (albeit of Indian descent), Kiran Kaur Khush graduated with Honors and Distinction in Biological Sciences from Stanford University. She completed her medical training at Harvard University and medical residency at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), followed by general cardiology training and advanced training in heart failure, heart transplantation, pulmonary hypertension, and echocardiography at UCSF. She then joined the faculty at UCSF while concomitantly earning a Masters’ Degree in Clinical Research and Epidemiology. Dr. Khush moved back to Stanford University in 2008 upon joining the faculty in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, where she focuses on clinical and translational research in the field of heart transplantation. She also maintains an active general cardiology practice, performing clinical and translational research focused on donor selection, non-invasive biomarkers, and prevention of long-term complications after heart transplantation.

Dr. Khush’s term will begin on 1 May, 2024.
