Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation

A forum that includes all aspects of pre-clinical and clinical science of the failing heart and lung.
The Society publishes the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation (JHLT) through the hard work of the JHLT Editorial Board. Online access to the full text of the JHLT is available free of charge to ISHLT members and JHLT subscribers. Members may click the READ JHLT button at the top of the screen for full access (login required).

About the Journal:

The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, the official publication of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, brings readers cutting-edge clinical practice, basic and translational science in the fields of cardio-pulmonary transplantation, mechanical and biological support of the failing heart, advanced lung disease, pulmonary vascular disease (pulmonary arterial hypertension and CTEPH), extracorporeal support of donor organs, and cell replacement therapy.

The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation has an Impact Factor of 7.865 and is ranked 1st of 26 journals in Transplantation category, 4th out of 204 journals in the Surgery category, 7th out of 53 journals in the Respiratory System category, and 13th of 125 journals in Cardiac and Cardiovascular Systems category in the 2019 Journal Citation Reports®, published by Thomson Reuters.

In order to ensure and protect the integrity of the JHLT, the ISHLT has developed Policies and Procedures on COI as it applies to the JHLT, its Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Editors, Section Editors, and Editorial Board members/Reviewers, as well as authors of manuscripts submitted to JHLT for consideration for publication. This policy is based upon the foundational work of The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), which updated its Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals in December 2019. Further guidance came from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All individuals who serve in an authorial, editorial, or review capacity for the JHLT must agree to adhere to these policies.

Any question may be directed to our office by e-mail to or (Mr. David Newcombe, JHLT Managing Editor). In general, an email receives a response within 72 hours. If there is an urgent issue that requires the editor's attention or intervention, it is usually attended to immediately.
