The purpose of this compendium is to provide a curriculum of core competencies in pulmonary hypertension.
Learning Objectives for the Introduction to Pulmonary Hypertension
- To establish context and historic background for pulmonary hypertension.
- To know how to define and classify pulmonary hypertension
- To understand that pulmonary hypertension is an increasingly recognized condition of many causes that is uniformly associated with reduced survival
- To learn the FDA approved indications for all of the currently available specific therapies for pulmonary arterial hypertension
- To understand the risks of misclassification of PH and misuse of approved specific therapies for pulmonary arterial hypertension
- Understand what physicians are treating PH patients
- Recognize the need for training and core competencies in pulmonary hypertension
