Mentorship is one of the essential values of our society and of our professional lives. The Francis D. Pagani, MD Endowed Mentorship Award, funded through the ISHLT Foundation, will be given to an ISHLT member who displays selfless mentorship of clinicians, educators and researchers dedicated to the treatment of advanced heart and lung disease. The award is named in honor of the inaugural recipient, Dr. Francis Pagani, who exemplifies the spirit of selfless mentorship and has championed many careers.
 

Grant Details

One $5,000 award may be given each year.
 

Eligibility Requirements    

  • The nominee must be a current member of ISHLT or have submitted a completed membership application by 31 December, 2023. The submitter is not required to be a member of ISHLT.
  • Nominee must be a mentor in clinical, research or education.
  • The submitter must be either a past or current mentee of the nominee.

Award Policies

  1. It is recommended that all funding be used to further mentorship activities.
  2. Funds will be provided in a single payment.
  3. It will be the responsibility of the recipient to designate whether the funding will be sent to them directly or to their institution
  4. No amount of funding can be used to cover indirect costs.

Funding Decision and Notification

After the nomination period, all submissions will be reviewed by the Selection Committee who will determine the recipient.

The Selection Committee decision will be based on the role played by the nominee in the trainees’ experiences in the following realms:

  4. Personal Development and Guidance
  5. Work/Life Balance
