ISHLT Welcomes New Board Members


 
Addison, Texas – June 5, 2018 –The International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffrey Teuteberg, MD, as president of the Board of Directors, and the election of seven new members. 
 
Stuart Sweet, MD, was elected President-Elect and will assume the role of president in 2019. Raymond L. Benza, MD, was elected Treasurer. 
 
Other newly elected members include: Goran Dellgren, MD, PhD, Martin Goddard, MD, Kathleen L. Grady, PhD, RN, MS, FAAN, Manreet Kanwar, MD, and Michael A. Shullo, PharmD. 
 
The ISHLT is the world’s largest multidisciplinary, professional organization dedicated to improving the care of patients with advanced heart or lung disease through transplantation, mechanical support and innovative therapies. 
 
About the board: 
 
 Dr. Jeffrey Teuteberg is Associate Professor of Medicine and Section Chief of Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplantation, and Mechanical Circulatory Support at the Stanford School of Medicine in Stanford, Calif.
 
Dr. Stuart Sweet is the W. McKim Marriott Professor of Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and the Medical Director of the Pediatric Lung Transplant Program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
 
Dr. Raymond L. Benza is a cardiologist at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) in Pittsburgh and Professor of Medicine at Temple University, College of Medicine. He also serves as the James Magovern Chair of Cardiovascular Research at AGH and the Medical Director for Advanced Heart Failure, Transplantation, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Pulmonary Hypertension for the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Cardiovascular Institute.
 
Dr. Goran Dellgren, Director Heart and Lung Transplantation, and Mechanical Circulatory Support at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden.
 
Dr. Martin Goddard, a Consultant Histopathologist at Royal Papworth Hospital and Business Unit Lead of Pathology Services.
 
Kathleen L. Grady, PhD, RN, MS, FAAN, Professor of Surgery and Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
 
Dr. Manreet Kanwar, Cardiologist at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Penn., the Medical Director of the Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) Program at AGH.
 
Michael A. Shullo is the Associate Vice President of Transplant Services at WVU Medicine in Morgantown, West Virginia.
