Goran Dellgren Named to ISHLT Board of Directors


 
Addison, Texas – June 5, 2018 – Dr.Goran Dellgren, MD, PhD., Director Heart and Lung Transplantation, and Mechanical Circulatory Support at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden, has been named to the Board of Directors of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT). 
 
“ISHLT is the most important organization within the field of cardiothoracic transplantation and mechanical circulatory support, and I am happy to be part of it” said Dr. Dellgren, who has been a member of ISHLT since 2008. 
 
The ISHLT is a multidisciplinary, professional organization dedicated to improving the care of patients with advanced heart or lung disease through transplantation, mechanical support and innovative therapies. With more than 3,000 members in more than 45 countries, ISHLT is the world’s largest organization dedicated to the research, education and advocacy of end-stage heart and lung disease. 
 
Dr. Dellgren’s clinical and research interests include cell transplantation, aortic valve surgery, mechanical circulatory support and heart and lung transplantation. 
 
Dr. Dellgren received his medical degree from the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden,in 1989 and became Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Karolinska Institute 1997 after which he did a fellowship in adult cardiac surgery at The Toronto General Hospital 1998-1999, followed by another fellowship 1999-2000 at The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto, Canada. Dr Dellgren defended his PhD thesis in 2002 at the Karolinska Institute.
