CHICAGO, USA – 7 July, 2023 – For the ninth year in a row,
The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation’s Impact Factor earned the publication the number one ranking in the transplantation category.
JHLT ranks 7th in Surgery and 8th in Respiratory, and came in 19th in the highly competitive Cardiac & Cardiovascular Systems category.
JHLT’s overall 2022 Impact Factor is 8.9. The Impact Factor is published in the annual Journal Citation Reports (JCR), and is determined by the number of 2022 citations accumulated for
JHLT manuscripts published in the previous two years.

“I’m proud of this achievement by the
Journal, and must give credit to
JHLT’s staff, editors, and authors, and especially to past Editor-in-Chief Daniel R. Goldstein for his recent leadership of the
Journal,” said
Michelle Kittleson, MD, PhD, Interim Editor-in-Chief of
JHLT and Director of Postgraduate Education in Heart Failure and Transplantation and Professor of Medicine in the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, CA USA. “Our goal is for
JHLT to publish cutting-edge studies that move the fields of thoracic transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and lung transplantation forward. We encourage authors to continue to submit their best work to the
Journal, and will continue to publish impactful studies in these fields.”
The
JHLT had 14,893 citations in 2022. The Article Influence Score, a measure of how much attention a
JHLT paper would acquire when normalized for various categories, continues to rise, ranking 3.265 over last year’s score of 3.132. Any score over 1.00 indicates each article has above-average influence.
JHLT is the official publication of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT). ISHLT is the only international interdisciplinary organization focused on interventions for advanced heart and lung disease, including transplantation.
