Dear ISHLT Members:

I hope this letter finds you and your family well in these unprecedented times.

As your President this year, I am pleased to report ISHLT is thriving. Our strategic plan called for the development and implementation of ISHLT as a 24/7, 365-day a year organization with expanded engagement opportunities and state-of-the-art science throughout the year. The pandemic has accelerated these objectives and strengthened our virtual capabilities. Notably, we have hosted a series of webinars and there are now more than 475 presentations from ISHLT’s 2020 Annual Meeting available online. If you’ve not participated in these ISHLTv events, I encourage you to visit us online and browse our programs.

ISHLT has also implemented a new structure that recognizes and emphasizes the primary strength of our society – our interdisciplinary membership, which is focused on advancing the science and clinical care of patients with advanced heart and lung disease. Our new structure offers exciting opportunities for member engagement, mentorship, and leadership development. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll focus on re-invigorating ISHLTconnect, a tool for exchanging ideas, reviewing relevant issues related to the care of patients and professional development, and for engaging with each other in discussion and debate.

All of this to say that ISHLT is focused on our members and wants to remain your professional society “home.” Today, we are kicking off our annual membership drive. I encourage you to renew now so that you can continue to enjoy the benefits of ISHLT in 2021.

As a reminder, ISHLT2021 is scheduled for April 27-30 in Toronto. This content-rich program will be an in-person meeting with virtual elements to meet the needs of all our members around the globe.

I hope you share my excitement about the changes ISHLT is making to enhance the value of our Society to our members.

With My Warmest Regards,

Joseph G. Rogers, MD
