Future ISHLT Academies

Live, face to face ISHLT Academies are conducted on a rotating basis ranging from every other year to every sixth year, depending on demand and pace of change in the field. For Core Competency Courses, in years when a live, face to face Academy is not scheduled, the recorded video of the prior live course is available in the Online Education portal.

We are in the process of building a complete library of all Core Competency Courses. The following video recordings of prior Core Competency Courses are now available free to all members:
  • Core Competencies in Mechanical Circulatory Support
  • Core Competencies in Pediatric Mechanical Circulatory Support
  • Core Competencies in Infectious Diseases in Thoracic Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support

The following video recordings of 2018 Core Competency Courses will be made available free to all members in April 2019:
  • Core Competencies in Heart Failure and Transplantation
  • Core Competencies in Pulmonary Transplantation

Below is the schedule of future live, face to face Core Competency Courses and Master Classes. Recordings of Master Classes are not provided due to the highly interactive nature of the educational format.

  • Basic Science and Translational Research
  • Pulmonary Hypertension
  • Mechanical Circulatory Support

This rotation schedule helps achieve the following:
  • Standardize the scheduling of Core Competency and Master Class Academies.
  • Strategically schedule future Academy courses and facilitate better advance-planning by the Councils
  • Facilitate better advance-planning for venue selection, meeting space planning, staff work flow, and Council volunteer efforts
  • Reduce the costs of delivering core competency education to the members
  • Encourage the use of recorded educational content by members for Core Competency education
  • Further this strategic goal and objective of the Society:
    • STRATEGIC IMPERATIVE: Enhance Membership Value
      • GOAL 1: Provide Access to Education Using Innovative Platforms
      • OBJECTIVE 1.1: Offer access to ISHLT educational opportunities throughout the year and improve access to meeting content for those unable to attend
