Health and Safety

Your well-being is ISHLT’s #1 priority. Here is what we are doing to protect your health and peace of mind so you can focus on education and networking at the ISHLT 2022 Annual Meeting.

ISHLT2022 Vaccine Mandate

ISHLT requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination for all meeting attendees. At this time, a person is considered to be fully vaccinated:
  • 2 weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series of a U.S.-approved vaccine, OR
  • 2 weeks after a single-dose of a U.S.-approved vaccine

Booster doses are encouraged but not required at this time. ISHLT may update this list and communicate to all registered attendees if these requirements change. A list of U.S.-approved vaccines can be found here.

SymCheck QR codeAttendees will need to upload proof of vaccination to the SymCheck Vaccine Verification system before entering the meeting. Upload proof of your vaccination now to reduce challenges on site. For best results, use the mobile device you’ll have on-site to upload your proof of vaccination. Only one person can be verified per mobile device. If you are having trouble uploading your vaccine card or require technical assistance, email support@symcheck.com.

The SymCheck mobile health screening is sponsored by Bayer Pharmaceuticals.

Religious exemptions will not be allowed. Medical exemptions must be vetted by ISHLT. ISHLT must receive requests for medical exemptions by 20 April, 2022. Medical exemptions cannot be accepted after this time and attendees will not be permitted to enter the Hynes Convention Center.

Daily Health Screenings

Each day before you enter the convention center, you must scan the SymCheck Scan2Clear QR code affirming that you have answered required health questions designed to screen for COVID-19 symptoms. We recommend that you complete the questionnaire each morning before you travel to the Convention Center and have your resulting green QR code on your phone ready as you approach the entrance.

Unvaccinated Individuals

You can still participate in ISHLT2022 by registering for the virtual/on demand option, which will include select content from the conference a few weeks after the meeting concludes.

Mask Wearing at ISHLT2022

Masks will be required for all meeting attendees, regardless of vaccination status, at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, Sheraton Boston Hotel, Boston Marriott Copley Place, The Westin Boston Copley Place, The Colonnade, The Fairmont Copley Plaza and the Hilton Boston Back Bay. Masks must be worn except while actively eating or drinking.

Although attendees, exhibitors, press, and ISHLT staff are required to be vaccinated and wear masks, we cannot guarantee the vaccination status or require masks of convention center, hotel, or vendor staff, and other individuals that you may come in contact with.

Safe Travel to ISHLT2022

Before traveling to ISHLT2022, ISHLT asks all attendees, exhibitors, and speakers to review the latest travel guidelines issued by the CDC. Adherence to these guidelines while traveling to Boston for ISHLT2022 is strongly recommended.

Liability Waiver + Be Well Agreement

All ISHLT2022 attendees are asked to agree to the “Be Well Agreement,” which is as follows:

As a condition of my participation in this meeting or event, I hereby waive any claim I may have against the ISHLT and its officers, directors, employees, or agents, or against the presenters or speakers, for reliance on any information presented and release ISHLT from and against any and all liability for damage or injury that may arise from my participation or attendance at the program. I further understand and agree that all property rights in the material presented, including common law copyright, are expressly reserved to the presenter or speaker or to ISHLT. I acknowledge that participation in ISHLT events and activities brings some risk and I do hereby assume responsibility for my own well-being. If another individual participates in my place per ISHLT transfer policy, the new registrant agrees to this disclaimer and waiver by default of transfer.

I understand that travel and gathering involves risk of sickness, including sickness from COVID-19. I (and on behalf of my guest(s)) waive and release ISHLT and its sponsors and exhibitors, and their employees and agents, from and against claims, liabilities and expenses arising from injury, sickness or death from contraction or spread of COVID-19 or other communicable disease due to travel to or attendance at an event sponsored by ISHLT.

I will take necessary precautions while at the event including, but not limited to, engaging in appropriate social distancing, wearing a mask when requested and/or required, minimize face touching, frequently washing hands and avoiding risky environments such as overcrowded bars or restaurants. I agree to not attend any ISHLT event if I feel ill or had recent exposure to a COVID-19 case.

This waiver and release is binding on me and my heirs and successors.
