Presentation Resources

Below are helpful resources to assist you in preparing your presentation for the ISHLT 2021 Virtual Conference.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Slide Preparation

  • Use the ISHLT2021 Slide Template for your first two slides (Title and Disclosure slides). The rest of your slides can be formatted however you wish.
  • You may use animation if it enhances your presentation, but don't overuse it.
  • Do not use hyperlinks within your slides or link out to external content.
  • When preparing your presentation, keep in mind the Target Audience and Learning Objectives found on the Continuing Education page.
  • Practice your presentation with a timer to ensure you do not exceed your allotted time limit.

Preparing Your Disclosure Slide

  • To meet ACCME regulations, you must disclose to the audience in the last 12 months any financial relationship you have had with a commercial entity that manufacturers, develops, distributes, markets, sells, or provides a product or services that is related to the subject matter of the abstract presentation.
  • Additionally, you must verbally disclose these relationships at the start of you presentation and indicate if a product you are discussing is not labeled for the use under discussion or is still investigational.
  • If you have nothing to disclose, your slide should include the absence of conflict of interest: "Disclosure: Nothing to disclose."

Pre-Recording Your Presentation

  • On March 10, instructions and a login link were emailed to all Presenting Authors regarding self-recording their presentation on the Virtual Meeting platform.
  • Additional instructions for uploading handouts and other media items were included.
  • If you are a presenting author of an oral or mini oral presentation and did not receive this email, contact Susie Newton at susie.newton@ishlt.org.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS

Poster Template

  • You may use any poster template, as long as it can be uploaded in PDF format.
  • Ideal poster dimensions for the virtual platform (although not a firm system requirement) = 1920 width x 1080 height (landscape orientation).

Disclosure

  • Posters must briefly acknowledge any financial relationship the presenting author has had in the last 12 months with a commercial entity that manufacturers, develops, distributes, markets, sells, or provides a product or services that is related to the subject matter of the abstract.
  • The disclosure should consist of the author's name followed by the name of the company involved and the type of relationship involved.
  • This disclosure notice is commonly positioned in a box in the lower right of the poster.

Poster Design

  • Poster Header: The poster should contain a top panel listing the title of the abstract and the names of the authors.
  • Organization: The key is to achieve clarity and simplicity. Do not overload the poster. Use a coherent sequence (top to bottom or left to right) to guide the viewer through the poster. Use figures, tables, graphs and photographs when appropriate; keep text brief.
  • Typography: Avoid using abbreviations, acronyms and jargon. Do not use industry logos or brand names. Font style should be consistent throughout.
  • When preparing your presentation, keep in mind the Target Audience and Learning Objectives found on the Continuing Education page.

Uploading Your Poster

  • On March 10, instructions and a login link were emailed to all Poster Presenters regarding uploading their poster on the Virtual Meeting platform.
  • Additional instructions for uploading an audio/video narration, handouts and other media items were included.
  • If you are a presenting author of a poster and did not receive this email, contact Susie Newton at susie.newton@ishlt.org.
