ISHLT2021 FAQ

About the ISHLT 2021 Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions

The virtual meeting will take place 24 – 28 April, 2021. On-demand content will be available for three months after the meeting, with the last day of access on Friday, 30 July, 2021.
You will not necessarily need to take time off of work to attend this meeting. Sessions are scheduled at all times of day on both weekend and week days, and symposia and plenary sessions will be rebroadcast at time-zone friendly intervals during the meeting so you can access the content that matters to you from wherever you are. Regardless of session type, all educational content will be available on-demand for three months after the meeting, so you’ll be able to look up interesting sessions you missed for months afterwards.
Our robust scientific sessions feature 120+ sessions, including plenaries, symposia, workshops, and oral and mini oral abstract sessions. There will also be 900+ posters, organized in multiple groups by related topics for easy browsing.
  • Symposia – There will be 42 symposia during the 2021 Annual Meeting. These 90-minute sessions feature invited speakers presenting talks, debates, and discussions organized in themes of interest to our attendees. The first broadcast of each symposium will feature a live streamed Q&A session with the speakers. Symposia content will be rebroadcast twice after their initial release to allow for time-zone friendly viewing, and then viewable on-demand.
  • Plenary Sessions – Three plenaries will bring the entire meeting together for topics of interest to all. These plenaries include invited presentations, featured abstracts, and the presentation of awards and accolades. Plenaries will be rebroadcast twice during the Annual Meeting to allow for time-zone friendly viewing, and then viewable on-demand, except for Richard Harris’s presentation, which will only be available during the session time.
  • Workshops – There will be 19 workshops at ISHLT2021. These 60-minute sessions are organized around interdisciplinary fields. A chat-based Q&A will be available for attendees to ask presenters questions during the first broadcast of the workshops. Workshop content will be available on-demand 30 minutes after the session ends, and rebroadcast twice after their initial release to allow for time-zone friendly viewing.
  • Oral and Mini Oral Abstract Sessions – These sessions collect abstracts together in presentations focusing on themes of interest across the field. A chat-based Q&A will be available for attendees to ask presenters questions during the first broadcast of the session Abstract sessions will be available on-demand 30 minutes after the first broadcast.
  • Industry Symposia – These non-CME sessions will feature innovations and ideas, are supported by industry partners, and are available apart from the scientific program. Some industry symposia will be available on-demand after they air.
  • Poster Sessions – 900+ posters are collected into multiple groups by related topics for easy browsing on demand throughout the conference. Poster office hours will be available at scheduled times where presenters will be available to answer questions about their work.
On-demand means that the session or event was pre-recorded and will be available to re-watch at any time. All scientific content at the ISHLT Annual Meeting will be available on-demand until 30 July 2021.
ISHLT2021 will feature concurrent programming. There will be up to seven sessions running within a given time slot during the Annual Meeting. Because symposia, plenary, and workshop sessions will be re-broadcast during the meeting, and because all content will be available on-demand for three months after the meeting, content can be viewed at your convenience and there should be no reason to miss a session you wish to see.
Registration is required for all participants. Visit https://ishlt.org/ishlt2021/2021-annual-meeting-and-scientific-sessions/registration for pricing and registration information.
No–all networking lounge events are included in your registration fee. Some networking lounges are invitation only, and space in all lounges is limited, so attendance will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
