COMMITTEE COMPOSITION
  • The Communications Committee shall consist of a Vice-Chair appointed by the President-Elect and a Chair who shall rotate into the position after serving as Vice-Chair.  Chair and Vice-Chair terms are one year each.
  • The leader of each Scientific Council Communications Workforce shall serve on the Committee.
  • A representative from the Education Committee and the Professional Standards and Guidelines Committee shall serve on the committee, such individuals to be selected by the Communications Committee Chair.
  • The Editor of the Newsletter and the Editor of the JHLT shall serve on the Committee.
  • The Committee Chair may appoint up to three at large committee members to serve one-year, renewable terms for the purpose of ensuring broad geographic representation on the Committee.
COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Work with staff and the Society's communications firm to produce the quarterly ISHLT Newsletter (to include appointing an Editor).
  2. Work with the Scientific Program Chair, Program Committee, Development Committee, and Society's communications firm to produce the daily annual meeting coverage newsletter and the press releases associated with the Annual Meeting.
  3. Work with other ISHLT Committees, Council Taskforces, staff, and the Society's communications firm to plan and execute appropriate campaigns to inform the public and interested organizations about ISHLT standards and guidelines, educational activities, and other noteworthy Society events and activities.
  4. Establish and maintain liaisons with other related professional organizations in order to be aware of the programs and activities of those organizations that may impact ISHLT and/or transplantation and keep the Board, the Journal Editor, and the relevant committee chairs informed of those activities.
  5. Provide input to staff regarding content for the ISHLT website.
  6. Develop means to enhance Society communications with the members
